Erotic fiction is more than just moans, grunts, and physical pleasure. To J.P. Barnaby, erotic fiction consists not only of the mechanics of physical love, but the complex characters and relationships that lead to those all-encompassing feelings of need and longing. Sex without context is merely sex—but sex coupled with attraction, with explosive repercussions—that is good erotic fiction. J.P. authors all different kinds of erotic fiction including gay, straight, male, female, BDSM, sweet, romantic, and dark.

As a bisexual woman, J.P. is a proud member of the GLBT community both online and in her small town on the outskirts of Chicago. A member of Mensa, she is described as brilliant but troubled, sweet but introverted, and talented but deviant. She spends her days writing software and her nights writing erotica, which is, of course, far more interesting. The spare time that she carves out between her career and her novels is spent reading about the concept of love, which, like some of her characters, she has never quite figured out for herself.

Growing up in rural Ontario, Leah Braemel learned to lose herself in the make-believe worlds in her books. Once she realized she could write her own stories, charts and maps to keep track of her fantasy worlds littered her bedroom. In her early teens she discovered her love of romances and soon all her stories revolved around giving her heroes and heroines their Happy-Ever-After.

Married to her college sweetheart and the mother of two sons, Leah is the only woman in a houseful of men—even their dog is male. She gained some varied and interesting insights while working with a security firm liaising with Toronto’s Emergency Task Force and bomb squad and later teaching computers to women escaping abusive relationships.

After a conversation with her eldest son about how he needed to follow his dreams, Leah decided to follow her own advice and make her dreams of getting published come true. She was thrilled when her first sizzling romance, Private Property, was published by Samhain Publishing in 2009. In January 2010, the reviewers at The Romance Studio nominated Private Property for a CAPA award for “Best Erotic Romance.” Leah was also nominated in the “Best Erotic Romance Author” category. Reviewers have since awarded her books numerous Top Pick and Recommended Reads designations along with another CAPA nomination for Deliberate Deceptions as “Best Contemporary Romance of 2011.”

I’ve been writing for what feels like my whole life.  I’m a sucker for a happy ending (get your mind out of the gutters!) so it’s been romance almost all the way.  Recently moved from Canada to Florida with my husband and cats, and shortly thereafter discovered a love of writing gay romance – the hotter the better.  Who knew?

Writing is always fun, despite the hard work, but writing about my guys is more fun than I’ve had in a long time.  Love between consenting adults is a beautiful thing, and should be celebrated, regardless of sexual orientation.

Her love for the old Gothic Romance paperbacks of the 60s and 70s, with the frightened heroine fleeing a dark, towering castle on the covers, led her to pen an homage to the genre, except in her book, the heroine ends up in the arms of a tall, dark and beautiful woman instead of man. She is busy penning another lesbian Historical Gothic Romance, CASTLE OF DARK SHADOWS and hopes to write many more lesbian Gothic Romances.

Patty has also written the very popular Brenda Strange Supernatural Mystery series. There are four books in the series. She’s also written a vampire novel and several horror anthologies as well. She loves a good mystery and supernatural tale, especially ghosts and haunted house stories.

When she’s not writing or thinking of plot lines in her head, she loves spending time with her family and friends, coffee shops, fine wines and being out in the weekend evenings under the soothing power of the moon. She enjoys the power of thunderstorms with rolling thunder and the quiet beauty of cemeteries. Cats have been constant companions since she can remember and fondly recalls each one with love for all the joy they brought. Patty is also an artist, creating custom book covers for many lesbian indie authors and mainstream authors as well via her own graphic arts business, Boulevard Photografica. Patty’s books are published by Blanca Rosa Publishing, her own indie imprint.

AC Katt was born in New York City’s Greenwich Village.  She remembers sitting at the fountain in Washington Square Park listening to the folk music while they passed the hat.  At nine, her parents dragged her to New Jersey where she grew up, married and raised four children and became a voracious reader of romantic fiction.  At one time she owned over two thousand novels, until she and her husband took themselves and the cat to New Mexico for their health and its great beauty.

Now, most of AC’s books are electronic (although she still keeps six bookcases of hardcovers), so she never has to give away another book.  AC is new to both GLBT and to writing being, as she claims, a late bloomer, however, she claims to have found her niche writing GLBT romance.  In October of 2008 she published her first piece, a short story for Torquere Press’s Wedding Sipz Blitz by the name of A Permanent Arrangement. Her first novel, The Sarran Plague, an Erotic Science Fiction Menage a Trois, was released from Eternal Press on April 7, 2008 to great reviews.  She hangs out at ACKatt.com; where she keeps her journal — This is a very opinionated kitty and at ACKattauthor.com where you may find snippets of her releases and some from works in progress.  There is a special website for her novel, The Sarran Plague, called TheSarrans.com which gives a reader some of the background and history of  the planet Sarran and her Sci Fi novel.

In the works is a live chat — More Than Erotica, where AC and Guests will discuss the genre and the realities portrayed in its pages.

While that may sound serious, it also permits us to get into swinging, voyeurism and ménage, great opportunities for being playful. Zahra Owens was born in Europe just before Woodstock and the moon landing and was given a much less pronounceable name by her non-English-speaking parents. Being an Aquarian meant she would never quite conform, and people learned to expect the unexpected.

She started writing fairy tales in first grade; the same year she came into contact with her first group of English-speaking friends, a group which would eventually grow to include people from all over the world. On the outside she was a typical only child, accustomed to being with adults most of the time. On the inside, she sought ways to channel her wild imagination.

During the daytime she earns a living as a computer analyst, but it’s her former career as an intensive care nurse that tends to seep into her fiction. Maybe this has to do with her weak spot for flawed characters and imperfect bodies, or maybe it’s just her sadistic streak coming through. You be the judge.

Zahra is the author of five novels to date and her short stories run way into the double digits. She hopes to write more of both in the coming year.

Tarra Thomas, publishing as T.T. Thomas, writes in a variety of genres.

In March 2012 the author released a full-length historical romance, The Blondness of Honey. The book is in eBook and Print formats. The Blondness of Honey is the story of two women who fall in love in 1893 as the decade and the century of Victorianism transitions to turn-of-the-century advances that would change the world, and women’s place in it, forever. Although such alliances were not unheard of at the time, there were no real templates for women who loved women, except for the so-called bohemian salons and artist colonies in Paris and Rome. The title of the book is from a poem by Renee Vivien (Pauline Tarn), lover of Natalie Barney, among others..

T.T. Thomas’ first published book, a novella, is an eBook, Two Weeks At Gay Banana Hot Springs, released in August 2011. Her second offering, also in eBook formats is a collection of short stories titled Sex On A Regular Basis, released in August 2011 and contains the four shorts that are also published separately: The Guy In Frankie’s Hatbox, My Second Stupid Suicide, Ronald Debby and Bread and Butter. The short stories are available as individual eBooks.

Later in 2012, Thomas will publish The Girl With Two Hearts, a lesbian steam punk novel set in the century cross-over years 1898 through 1918. In this novel,  fantasy and the future meet in a collision of mystery, intrigue and romance set against the backdrop of the rapidly industrializing world and the stirrings of female independence and curiosity that propel the culture of women who love women out of the shadows and into the light.

All of Thomas’ novels and stories are available on Amazon and other on-line booksellers.

Born and raised on California’s Central Coast, Lex moved to Southern California in 1992. She lives in a canyon at the edge of Orange County with her daughter Nikki,  her long haired tattooed husband Rott, and a bunch of cats she calls “babies.” She loves loud rock and alternative music, builds her own computers, and has a propensity for having very weird vivid dreams about Nikki Sixx.

Lex works full-time at a 100+ year old cemetery as the network administrator, collects giraffes because of a character written by her friend Jen Morgan, regularly drools over supermodel Marcus Schenkenberg and loves hanging out with author-pal Z.A. Maxfield, who never lets Lex be a wallflower.

Lex was a blogger before she was an author and has been online in some capacity since 1994. The domain she’s had since 1995 has become her graphics site Winterheart Design. She blogs at Sunlight Sucks and her author website as well as group blog Flirty Author Bitches. She is also one of several gay romance authors involved in the Lords of Aether serial story project. She writes across genres from contemporary to urban fantasy in both gay and bi-sexual romance.

R.A. Vaughn is fascinated by the paranormal and she loves a good romance as well, which probably explains why these two elements perpetually crop up in her writing. At a young age, she began penning fairy tales and fables, but it wasn’t until she read her first romance novel, in her freshman year of high school, that she discovered her true calling. The perpetual student, she took fiction writing classes and steeped herself in tales of love conquering all before attempting to write her own story. But, as she wrote she knew something was missing. Again, she found her inspiration in a book, one filled with suspense, romance, and witches. From that moment, she began to spin tales of psychics, vampires, and other extraordinary characters.

When not writing, R.A. spends her time reading, getting caught up in a video game, watching reruns of Ghost Hunters, and attending karate class.

Raylee is all about the big L-O-V-E. No matter what race, gender, age, or era (as her web site indicates) she believes all couples who respect themselves and each other deserve a story. The developing romance between two people drives each of her plots. Her favourite genre is M/M romance, but she also enjoys everything in-between. As Raylee sums it up, “I don’t care if the novel is about two women, two men, a man and a woman, two teenagers, or a Martian and Plutonian meeting on Jupiter; if the story contains two compelling characters, I’ll read it.”
